Simon Parnall has lived in Kingswood for the last ten years. He is married to Judy and they have an eight year-old son, Matthew.
Simon works in Broadcasting Engineering Research, for 19 years with the BBC (at Kingswood Warren) and latterly for a leading broadcast company where he is UK Vice President of Technology. He has had responsibility for leading worldwide technical developments such as subtitling for the deaf, the Radio Data System (which gives the station name on your radio and retunes automatically to the best transmitter as you drive around), the Personal Video Recorder (Sky+ for example) and some exciting developments we’ll see in the next few years.
His concern for our community led Simon to join and latterly to lead the Kingswood Residents Association as chairman for the last four years. In this role he has changed the way that the association communicates with its members, using email and a new website, he has championed the installation of new speed signs in Kingswood village, he is chairing Kingswood’s Queen’s Diamond Jubilee committee, and he has developed a real concern for the way that planning decisions are scarring our community.
Simon loves photography and hill walking, and identifies Yosemite in California as his favourite place on Earth!
