New Chairman and officers elected

Attended by over 70 of our members, the meeting elected Julian Ellacott, a Redhill resident who works for a local insurance company and is also a local councillor, as our new Chairman.  In this role he will be responsible for representing and overseeing the administration of the local Conservative organisation, which has a total of around 500 members.

Julian said after his election:

“Having been involved with the local Conservatives for 15 years, I relish the opportunity to take on this role, and further our objectives of being an active, open local campaigning organisation, working with our MP and councillors to make this area a better place to live, and to secure a Conservative government at national level.

"I am especially keen to build on our local policy discussion forums and our social action activities, which enable party members and non-members alike to get involved.”

Also elected as officers at the meeting, to support the Chairman, were Simon Parnall, Ben Mearns and Sam Walsh.  Thanks were paid to those who were retiring from their roles, and members heard from and asked questions of local MP Crispin Blunt, and one of the region’s MEPs, Marta Andreasen.
