Cllr Mark Brunt (Merstham Councillor)

Mark and his wife, Lisa have lived in the Merstham for over 15 years and is an active member of the local community. Mark has served as borough councillor for Merstham since 2004.

Mark was educated at a local comprehensive school and completed his engineering apprenticeship with a Redhill Engineering company. Mark now works as an Oil and Gas industry consultant.

As a local councillor, Mark successfully led the campaigns to bring the name ‘Merstham’ back in to our address and to save Nutfield Road’s post office from closure. He is actively working with Surrey County Council to increase local school places and bring forward plans to build a new primary school in Merstham.

He has represented resident’s views on planning applications and is the current chairman of the council’s planning committee.

Mark is a founding member and current chairman of Merstham Community Facility Trust which runs two community facilities on Portland Drive. He is working with the council and Raven to develop a new purpose built community hub and Library.

Mark’s interests away from work include walking, caving, photography and local industrial history.
