Zully and her husband Andrew have lived in the Borough of Reigate and Banstead for 29 years years, initially in Redhill and for the last 18 years in Reigate.
Zully has spent her professional life as a university computing science lecturer and researcher, subsequently becoming a specialist consultant in the City of London and a marketing consultant to a pioneering international IT company. She brings these skills to the job of getting the best for Reigate.
In 2009 she was elected as the County Councillor for Reigate Hill and Merstham and in 2013 as the County Councillor for the newly created county division of Reigate. Since 2015 she is also a Borough Councillor representing Reigate Hill. She has actively engaged with residents and worked with residents’ associations and community groups to address local priorities on road repairs and safety, parking, school places and planning.
Zully supports local voluntary organisations that help young people address behavioural issues and provide them with temporary shelter in times of need, she has secured funding for the YMCA and Relate Reigate.
Zully actively supported Reigate Priory Cricket Club and the Old Reigatians Rugby Club with their successful bid to the county council’s Community Improvement Fund for funding to improve facilities and increase the number of playing fields.
Zully says: “The sharp population increase of the last years has brought serious financial pressures on Surrey County Council, particularly on its adult social care and children’s services across the county. The council will need to prioritise all services rigorously in order to sustain essential services to the most vulnerable in our community.
In this context, I believe my experience is invaluable to ensure delivery of my 6-point plan and Reigate remains a successful and attractive town to live, work and go to school”.
